Frequently Asked Questions
Is nutritional testing required?
No. This is completely optional and your milk can be freeze-dried without testing.
Can I purchase testing without freeze-drying?
At this time, nutritional testing is only available as an add-on to freeze-drying orders.
How much milk is needed?
We need 1 oz of breast milk.
Will testing use up my milk?
No. FTIR testing is non-destructive and uses only a small portion of the sample.
Can you test freeze-dried powder?
Yes. Powder testing is especially helpful for fortification calculations.
What if my results seem low?
Variation is normal. Results reflect time of day, diet, lactation stage, and pumping patterns. Always consult your care team if you have questions.
Is this HSA/FSA eligible?
It may be eligible when medically necessary. Please check with your plan administrator.
